Sarah is the founder of Wider World, a director and trustee. She set up and managed the projects for the first four years, which included strategic planning, programme delivery, fundraising, policy development and governance.
Sarah has 20 years’ experience in fundraising, marketing and project management within the private, education and voluntary sectors. Her roles have included managing the Bristol Chamber of Commerce, where she looked after a membership of 600 businesses, and heading up the British Red Cross’s Individual Giving department, meeting annual targets of £28 million. Currently Development Director for third sector consultancy NotDeadFish, Sarah provides fundraising and project management support for education and voluntary sector clients. Until recently, she was also Chair of Governors for Cabot Primary, a school serving one of Bristol’s highest areas of deprivation.
Jonothan is the operational director for Wider World. He has experience in managing education projects for local authorities, primary school teaching and running his own freelance business as a tutor, trainer, teacher and project manager.
Jonothan was involved in the early stage of the Extended Services government scheme that began in 2005. He managed a Big Lottery enrichment programme across two Reading schools before taking a post at Wiltshire Council as Study Support Officer, supporting schools with their extra-curricular programmes. He set up and coordinated support services for families across 20 schools before starting his own freelance business, delivering adult learning, primary teaching, team building and childcare training.
Judy works as an Activities and Admin Assistant with Wider World as part of the University of Bristol Internship Programme. She has recently graduated from the University of Bristol with First Class Honours in History and is determined to develop in the third sector.
Judy has a long-term commitment to volunteering and mentoring, having fundraised and volunteered with Crisis at Christmas, contributed to mental health awareness campaigns at university and tutored primary school children at local, disadvantaged schools. With lots of experience engaging with young people whilst working at a further education college and tutoring, she is passionate about making education more inclusive and accessible in the future.
Anita qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and worked in law and at an insurance mutual before joining Newman Martin and Buchan LLP in 2002 as Legal Counsel. In 2003 she also became NMB’s Compliance Officer. Anita was appointed to the board in July 2005 and took over the role of Company Secretary in June 2007. Following the sale of NMB to CGSC, Anita became Legal & Compliance Director of both Newman Martin and Buchan LLP and Cooper Gay & Co. Ltd.
Nick is a director and trustee of Wider World with an impressive track record in marketing and fundraising.
He has over 17 years’ experience in advertising and marketing, developing strategy and delivering campaigns for major brands including Mitsubishi, Hoover, Legal & General, AXA and the British Red Cross. His roles have included Managing Director at Golley Slater in Cardiff, and Client Services Director at Bray Leino and McCann. Nick is currently Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Send a Cow, an international development charity that works in East Africa. He is responsible for a team of over 30 looking after the development education, public fundraising, partnerships and communications teams.
